Apple can still the undisputed king of the app store, but new research suggests that his reign may be less than a year left, except all surprising developments (and no, the iPhone-4S as a surprising development does not count).
Currently, according to a study of Xyologic, monthly downloads from Apple app in the United States are almost double the Android downloads - 494 million compared with 279 million in August - with the vast majority of the Apple apps for the iPhone (417 million, compared to the iPad 77 million) be downloaded.
But the company analysis indicates that the download rate for the Android app Apple overtaken by June 2012.
Android has already overtaken Apple in some overseas markets (namely, the Czech Republic, Poland and Portugal), but it lasts until the middle of next year for the same to be true worldwide. By chance - or not, perhaps - that is about the same time the Android market is expected finally achieved parity with the number of available apps in Apple's app store.
A special characteristic of the Xyologic research could everything in disarray, but trigger; There is no hard data for the Chinese market on Android app downloads. Although estimates for downloads are made through the official marketplace in China, Android apps are available also in other showcase, which means that the 22 million estimate for August to may differ as much as a factor of four. This can give Apple, even more reason, thinking to do something, sooner rather than later own app store downloads.
